Tips To Get Rid of Bad Breath Permanently

Bad breath, also known as halitosis, can be an embarrassing condition. The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research reports that 75% of adults have had bad breath at some point. Some causes of bad breath include dry mouth, tobacco use, and dry mouth. Here are a few tips to freshen your breath.

Brush your teeth twice daily

Brushing your teeth helps remove food particles and plaque from your mouth, which can reduce bad breath. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste with fluoride to brush your teeth for two to three minutes at a time in order to help remove bacteria and plaque. You should brush your teeth at least two times a day, once in the morning and again at night before you go to bed. To properly clean your teeth, gently brush each tooth in a circular motion for at least two minutes. Once you’ve finished brushing your teeth, rinse them with a cool, clean mouthwash and water in order to remove any remaining residue from the toothpaste or bacteria that may be left behind. Replace your toothbrush every three months to help make sure you’re removing as much bacteria as possible from your mouth.

Floss at least once a day

In addition to brushing twice a day, you should also floss at least once per day. Flossing will help to remove food that is stuck between teeth and along the gum line. If left there, this food can rot and produce foul odors. When you floss, make sure you also floss in between all of your teeth. You may also consider investing in a water pick that shoots out bursts of water to help clear food particles in your mouth. A Waterpik is a great option to help you get rid of bad breath.

Brush your tongue

Like your teeth, your tongue needs to be cleaned regularly as well in order to reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth. Not only does a clean tongue help keep your breath fresher for longer, but it can also help to prevent gum disease and tooth decay as well. It’s easiest to brush your tongue with a toothbrush or a tongue scraper. Choose a soft-bristled toothbrush or a tongue scraper made of rubber or plastic and gently move it across the surface of your tongue, cleaning it as you go. You can also purchase a

Stay Hydrated

Drinking water throughout the day can also help keep your breath fresh since it washes away odor-causing bacteria. If you don’t drink enough water each day, your mouth can become dry, and the compounds that cause bad breath can form in your mouth. Also, avoid tobacco products since they can also cause bad breath. Being dehydrated can also dry out your mouth and make you more susceptible to bad breath.

Schedule regular dental checkups

Regular cleanings by your family dentist will also help keep your mouth clean and fresh. You can also discuss with your dentist any specific dental issues that may be contributing to your bad breath.
