Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns & Bridges are customized tooth prosthetics used for tooth replacement. Crowns are commonly used to "cap" a damaged tooth or cover an implant to give additional strength for improving its alignment. And bridges are used to cover the space in cases where the patient is missing one or more teeth.

If your tooth is inflamed, cracked, or too much damaged, Dr. Hu will advise you to consider a root canal before implanting a crown or bridge. It is better if you undergo a thorough check-up before opting for crown or bridge placement.

Crowns & Bridges Replacement Procedure

At Fay Hu General Dentistry, after the consultation, the dentist will determine proper spacing and optimal esthetics.  And as per these insights from your first appointment, the customized prosthetic will be prepared to match your tooth’s shade. Meanwhile, you will get a temporary restoration too.

During the second appointment, the dentist will remove this temporary restoration to place the final crown or bridge. She will also evaluate and adjust for ideal fit and appearance. Then these dental prosthetics will be placed using a strong adhesive.

The healing time will be a few days, but in some cases, it can take up to months for a full recovery. There will be a minor sensitivity to heat or cold and soreness in the gums following the treatment.
